Restaurant Week 2023

Many of you may know this and many of you may not, but I love my gut!

I believe that eating is an experience and food is a love language. I enjoy eating good food in a great environment with even better company.

One of my best friend’s, Ádia had been raving about a thing called Restaurant Week which she heard about while living in Jamaica. She told me how eateries would come up with discounted menus to encourage people to try their food.

It comes as no surprise that when the food loving trio of Annetta, Jahrika and Ádia heard that Antigua and Barbuda was having it’s first ever Restaurant Week that we quickly got on board. It was also to my delight that all of this excitement was happening around my birthday.

We looked up the participating restaurants, strategised in our group-chat and curated a master spreadsheet calendar of who was eating where and when do we could successfully fill two food passports with stamps!

It was ALOT of eating. Over the course of 2 weeks I hit more than 5 restaurants and curated a Twitter thread ranking my favourite eats.

Participating restaurants offered lunch and/or dinner prix fixe menus and experiences at a fixed price of USD $25, $50, or $75. This was a solid deal for a full 3 course dining experience. Restaurant Week being a Tourist attraction concept also featured an Eat Like A Local promotion, giving local Antiguans and Barbudans who own local restaurants and food spots an opportunity to share their own local experience with tourists and promote their businesses.

I ate at my usual haunts like Weatherills, Rokuni and tried out places like Colibri, Wild Tamarind and Loose Canon for the first time. I even headed to places I hadn’t checked out for a long time like Boom and Garden Grill.

All-in-all, I had a wonderful time eating good food with great people and over a series of posts I will share a bit about the food I had during Restaurant Week.
